The DeWaal Family: The Fall

Some of our fun fall festivities in 2011!

Halloween!... Nick had the best idea for a costume this year... He was a chef and Jayden was a little lobster in a pot! It was awesome! I didn't have to do much for my "creative" costume- a nurse! But actually it was Maddie's idea because she has been very into pretending to be a doctor/nurse/dentist the last few months. She loves to get her "check-a-scope" and do checkups on any family or friends who will let her. She even uses an otoscope, tongue depressor and checks for reflexes with a hammer. :) So she was all excited when my mom found a small scrub set for her. We were both nurses together- easy costume!

Here we are at the elementary school by our house for their annual Halloween party. They had
games, prizes, food, tickets, etc. Always a good time :)

My Birthday/Annual Pumpkin Carving Party.... This is the 3rd year we've had both our families over for a little birthday get together and pumpkin carving. I tried to be festive and made some fun Halloweeny food :)

I had fun making the food, and Nick had fun making his food...lobster bisque! :)

Aleah had the same little lady bug costume that Maddie wore last year, so she squeezed into it again to get a matching cousin pic!

Nick carved a pumpkin just for Madison... Dora the Explorer! It's kind of hard to see but I think it looks perfect!

October was also a not so fun time for us... Madison burned her hand on the stove (palm and the 2 fingers). She was quite a trooper at her visits to the instacare and U of U Burn Clinic. It took about 2 weeks of daily dressing changes but now it is good as new! The hardest part was that she had to stop her finger sucking cold turkey because it burned the tips of the exact 2 fingers she used to suck! :( So this is the last picture I have of her sucking her fingers (the day before)... Aww! I kinda miss how cute those 2 little fingers were!

Pumpkin Patch!... This is the 2nd year we've gone to a fun little pumpkin patch just down the street. Madison had fun picking pumpkins, putting them in the wheel barrow and seeing the farm animals there.

SEPTEMBER...

Taylor Swift concert!!... Deeds bought me tickets for Christmas LAST year to go with her to see T Swift for my first time! It was SOOO cool!! Loved it!

Utah Games!!.... 6th annual season ticket holders we are... and I'm pretty sure if it's up to Nick, we will be season ticket holders for life! Jayden didn't come to any games with us this year but we took Maddie while the weather was still nice.

Maddie is very good at doing her 'U' with her hand and screaming "GO UTES!!!"

Deeds made these yummy red velvet cupcakes for the Utah- BYU game. Our next door neighbors are die hard BYU fans, so we thought we were pretty funny after we killed them and we left them this nice little plate of Utes cupcakes and a box of tissues on their doorstep! :)

Hiking!!... We love to hike but only went a few times last summer/fall (due to new baby!!)

Lisa Falls

We love Cecret Lake. My parents and Jenessa came with us on this hike, and as usual we saw lots of moose!!

Camping!.... Well as much as Nick would have loved to go hiking in the mountains last summer/fall, it would have been a pain with a new baby. Sooo, we camped in our backyard instead! Madison's first time "camping" and she loved it!! It took her awhile to fall asleep cuz she was so excited... it was fun! Need to at least do that kind of camping every year (so much easier!!) :)

Movie theater time!... Madison's only been to 2 movies in a theater, so this was kind of a big deal! We saw Winnie the Pooh at the dollar theaters, and brought Jayden for his first time :)
