Bells

Nick has lived at the mouth of Little Cottonwood practically his whole life and has never hiked all the way to the top of Bells Canyon (the very top- like past the 2 waterfalls, past the meadow and up to the 2nd reservoir). So he made it a goal last year of finally doing it. Him and Jeremy backpacked up there and stayed over night. They thought it was way too exhausting to do it all in 2 days since it takes 6 hours to get to the top, most of it straight up and over boulders. So this year they made it a 3 day backpacking trip. They were debating whether or not to go in June since you could still see snow up in the mountains. I told him he should just put it off til August or so so that it would be warmer and there for sure wouldn't be any snow. But nooo...they didn't listen! :) And well, as you can tell from these picture, there was more than a little bit of snow!
They couldn't get to the top because the snow was too deep. So.... they decided to slide down the mountain instead! Then they camped for 2 nights in the meadow. When Nick came home all he wanted to do was go out to eat cuz he said he was so sick of eating nothing but brats, fish and cliff bars! haha But he had a great time as always with the boys and can't wait til next summer so he can actually do the full hike.
